The staff of Methodist Hospice provides loving care to patients and families facing a terminal illness throughout the year.
Yet, it is at this holiday time that can prove most difficult for those same families, both from an emotional as well as a physical standpoint.
Hospice has been proud to sponsor our “Share the Care” drive for the past few years, as we try to bring cheer and comfort to those at the end of life and their loved ones. Your generosity and participation in this effort has helped make this offering a great success, and we thank you.
And, so, we begin again to “Share the Care” and ask for your participation to make this holiday a little brighter for our Hospice patients and families in need. Please, if you wish, take a moment and look at the list of personal care items, linens and fun things that have been compiled by the staff of Methodist Hospice.
“The items on this list are looked upon as luxuries when you need every penny you have to pay for utilities and food,” explains Mary Hudspeth, Hospice Aide Team Leader. “Our Hospice Aides have gone into a home and can’t find a towel or washcloth, let alone bath powder or a razor and shaving cream.”
Personal care items include:
- Shampoo
- Hand lotion
- Mouthwash
- Razors and Shaving Cream
- Soap (Bar and Liquid)
- Wet wipes
- Baby and scented bath powders
- Lip gloss (Chapstick, etc.)
- Vaseline
- Socks-bootie socks with grippers on the soles very much appreciated.
Linens:
- Wash cloths
- Towels
- Flat sheets (twin and full)
- Light weight blankets
Fun things:
- Crossword or Find-A-Word puzzle books
- Inspirational items
- Stationary/pretty note cards
- Small Statuettes (angels, holiday figure, etc.)
- Cookies and/or candy
Items will be picked up December 16 and 17. If you or a group would like to help, please contact Dee Flood at 516-1727 for a pick up or consider a financial donation and let the staff do the shopping. Donations can be sent to Methodist Hospice, SHARE THE CARE, 6400 Shelby View Drive, #101, Memphis, TN 38134.
The Methodist Hospice staff is grateful for your continued support of this program every year – and we thank you. May you receive joy and blessings this Christmas season.
